HVI Annual Dues, Fees and Assessments*
Annual Dues
Members are billed each July for the period July 1 through June 30.

Annual Meeting Assessment
This is a "use it or lose it" assessment which is credited toward your attendance at one of the two HVI meetings held each year. Members are billed upon joining and each January.

Annual Shipping Assessment
This assessment applies to all Non-members who have HVI-Certified products listed. This assessment also applies to all Regular Members irrespective of whether they have HVI-Certified products listed. Members are billed each July for the period July 1 through June 30. Non-members are billed upon consenting to participate in the HVI Certified Ratings Program and payment is required before certification requests can be processed.

Certified Ratings Program
This program participation fee is separate and distinct from any laboratory testing fees which each company negotiates directly with the testing labs, not HVI. Payment is required before certification requests can be processed.

Certified Product Directory Listings
These fees apply to companies who have HVI-Certified products listed and are based on the number of brand names used by each company. Members and Non-members are billed quarterly. There are additional certification fees related to ENERGY STAR® products which are also billed quarterly by HVI. A description of these can be found on the ENERGY STAR® Fees page.

Verification Testing Fees
Verification testing is explained in HVI Publication 920®. These fees apply to companies who have HVI-Certified products. Each company is responsible for all laboratory testing expenses plus open procurement costs of product(s) plus administrative costs.
In addition to conducting its own verification program, HVI also conducts verification testing on behalf of the US EPA's ENERGY STAR program. Each company is responsible for all laboratory testing expenses plus procurement costs of product(s) plus administrative costs.
Cost of verification varies widely depending on product type and the number of HVI-Certified products listed by each company. For an informal estimate of the costs, please contact HVI Staff.
Challenge Testing Fees
Challenge testing is explained in HVI Publication 920®. The company losing the challenge is responsible for all procurement, staff services, and laboratory testing expenses.
