HVI Presents Distinguished Service Award to Rick Olmstead
During the Home Ventilating Institute’s Spring Meeting in February, the Home Ventilating Institute (HVI) recognized an outstanding volunteer for his exceptional contributions to the association and the residential ventilation industry. Rick Olmstead of Venmar Ventilation was presented with the 2010 HVI Distinguished Service Award at a banquet in his honor on February 26. “ Dedicated, innovative, and driven are the words I would use to describe Rick,” said Jim Boldt, HVI Chairman, of Olmstead. "Rick has led numerous successful HVI projects over the past twenty-five years and has never expected recognition. He is a valued leader of this organization."

HVI Elects Officers and Directors
The Home Ventilating Institute (HVI) announced the results of Officer and Director elections at the HVI Annual Meeting on October 6, 2009 in Chicago, Illinois. Jim Boldt of Broan-NuTone, LLC in Hartford, Wisconsin was elected to serve a two-year term as Chairman of the Board. John Fox of Air King Ventilation Products in West Chester, Pennsylvania was elected as Vice Chairman/Treasurer. Russell Pope of Soler & Palau in Jacksonville, Florida was elected as Secretary. Peter Grinbergs of Airia Brands, Inc. in London, Ontario now serves as Immediate Past Chairman.

The Home Ventilating Institute Adopts Six-Mic Array Method for Sound Testing at Energy Systems Lab (ESL)
In September 2008, The Home Ventilating Institute (HVI) employed a consultant to consider how to reduce background noise levels at HVI-designated testing facilities. The focus of the research was to obtain background noise level steadiness and the results were better than expected. "We found the rotating boom was the major background noise source – and that it can be eliminated," said John Harper, HVI Board Director and Engineering Committee Chairman.

Home Ventilating Institute Becomes Founding Member of Efficiency First
The Home Ventilating Institute (HVI) has become a founding member of Efficiency First, a non-profit organization devoted to retrofitting America's homes in order to make them more energy efficient, expanding the green building industry which will result in job creation, and minimizing energy consumption, carbon emissions and alleviating the U.S.’s foreign oil dependence.
