HVI Presents Distinguished Service Award to Rick Olmstead

During the Home Ventilating Institute’s Spring Meeting in February, the Home Ventilating Institute (HVI) recognized an outstanding volunteer for his exceptional contributions to the association and the residential ventilation industry. Rick Olmstead of Venmar Ventilation was presented with the 2010 HVI Distinguished Service Award at a banquet in his honor on February 26. "Dedicated, innovative, and driven are the words I would use to describe Rick," said Jim Boldt, HVI Chairman, of Olmstead. "Rick has led numerous successful HVI projects over the past twenty-five years and has never expected recognition. He is a valued leader of this organization."

Olmstead currently serves as the HVI Marketing Council Chairman, a position he has held since 1995. He also chairs a number of the association's marketing-related task groups. Olmstead's previous HVI roles include serving two terms as Chairman of the Board. Rick was the champion behind the development of the current HVI corporate logo, the I'm an HVI-Certified Fan logo and was a contributing author and driving force behind all the HVI Fresh Ideas magazines, including the 2009 version which was distributed to more than 53,000 recipients with the December 2008 issue of Contracting Business Magazine and has been downloaded more than 5,000 times on the HVI website since January 2009.

"I am honored and humbled to receive the HVI Distinguished Service Award," said Olmstead. "Coming from a group of peers that I admire and respect it is truly a milestone in my ventilation industry career. One never knows quite where the decisions one makes will lead — becoming a manufacturer of heat recovery ventilators has taken me places I would never have anticipated, creating experiences and friendships I would never have otherwise enjoyed. Thank you all for the recognition and support, I look forward to continuing the journey!"

The HVI Distinguished Service Award is awarded annually at the HVI Spring Meeting by the Board of Directors to distinguished representatives and partners of HVI who have served well and brought honor to themselves and the Home Ventilating Institute. All representatives of HVI member companies in good standing as well as representatives of recognized HVI partner organizations are eligible for this award.

The Home Ventilating Institute (HVI), founded in 1955, is a nonprofit association of the manufacturers of home ventilating products. Through its Certified Ratings Program, HVI provides a voluntary means for residential ventilation manufacturers to report comparable and creditable product performance information based upon uniformly applied testing standards and procedures performed by independent laboratories.
